The Biology of Sharks
The course was a great success and we intend to continue teaching intensive courses at CICMAR. The next course has not been decided, but it will appear on this website when it is finalized.
Come learn with us about these magnificent animals, in a hands on class taught in historic La Paz, Mexico by experts in the physiology, life history and reproductive habits of sharks.
When : September 5th to 11th, 2004
Where : CiCiMar, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico
What : An eight day course in the biology of sharks. There will be lectures, hands on dissections of large animals, lessons in skeletal preparation, demonstration dissections of difficult anatomy, visits to artisanal shark fishing camps, and snorkeling trips. The course is limited to 10 international students and approximately the same number from Mexican institutions. In addition to the three primary instructors there will be two teaching assistants studying sharks for their PhD, so every student will have a great deal of personalized attention.
